Janice Okoh, author of Girl Number 8

Welcome

It’s lovely to meet you here.  First, let me tell you a bit about me:

In 2026, I won a BAFTA in the category of Emerging Talent: Fiction at 53 and landed a book deal at 52. I became a mother at 50. I call myself a “Late Bloomer.”

I live in London with my son, where I write suspenseful novels in the upmarket or book club space exploring themes of love, loneliness and connection, often through older, complicated female protagonists.

Things I love: the sea, Rome, the sun on my face, highlife music, scented candles,  planning my week, Matcha with almond milk,  meditation, early morning hugs from my son, woollen wraps, listening to Audible, research, and a compelling plot.

Things I’m not so keen on: housework, driving, the taste of coffee and keeping New Year’s resolutions.

On the other pages of my website, you can find out more about my debut novel, Girl Number 8, and, for the late bloomers and dreamers, my Readers Circle is where I share more about the stories I waited many years to write and what it took to get here.

I hope you enjoy this space.

Much love.
